Reigning Totalsports Ladies Race Stellenbosch Champion Rene Kalmer will be hoping for yet another victory on Women’s Day (Saturday, 09 August 2014) when she defends her title at the 2014 event.

“I love the Totalsports Ladies Race,” says Kalmer. “It is a great way to get back into racing mode after the winter months. By taking part in the Stellenbosch race I have a great excuse to travel to Cape Town for the weekend. I can’t think of a better place to spend Women’s Day”.

“I am aiming to improve on my 2013 winning time of 33 minutes 36seconds,” continues Kalmer. “I like the route it is fairly flat and not too challenging. It is a great opportunity to test one's fitness and aim for a good time. There’s no better way to celebrate Women's Day than with thousands of women from all walks of life, but who all share the same love for running. I think my toughest competitor will be Irvette Van Zyl. She had a great race at the Totalsports Ladies Race in Durban. I definitely recommend this event to all women. Running is more than just a workout. It is a way of life”.

Nedbank Running Club athlete, Irvette Van Zyl, will make her Totalsports Ladies Race Stellenbosch debut in August. “I love women’s races,” says Van Zyl. “There is a totally different vibe and feeling. This will be the first time that I partake in the Stellenbosch event. I am really excited and better prepared compared to the Durban event. My main focus will be to take the race as it comes. I really want to improve on my Totalsports Ladies Race Durban time of 33 minutes 49 seconds”.
