Jeffreys Bay - The JBay Winterfest is set and ready, and the excitement in the area has already set in. Professional surfers have started arriving for the Jeffreys Bay Open ASP World Tour surfing event, and the town is getting ready for an influx of visitors.

The music festival www.jbaywinterfest.com/music-fest/ is one of the focal points of interest, along with the surfing event www.jbaywinterfest.com/open-of-surfing/ and the skating downhill sokkie jol www.jbaywinterfest.com/downhill-sokkie-jol/

The Mountain Biking event, the JBay Mountain Bike Open www.jbaywinterfest.com/mtb-open/ has already opened up entries, and will be taking place on the second weekend of the festival, on the 19th July. The event - #JBayMTB - will take place on a purpose-built track and will include 20km, 40km, 60km and 85km events, for the whole family to enter.

The waves have been good the last few weeks, giving early arrivals in the JBay Open ASP World Tour event a taste of what's to come. With Kelly Slater, Jordy Smith, John John Florence and Gabriel Medina lined up, this event promises to be world class on all levels. Our very own Dylan Lightfoot will enter the fray as a wildcard, graduating from the JBU Supertrial presented by RVCA event that was run at Supertubes recently. The Music Festival has garnered much excitement, and the ticket sales have been brisk. With Jack Parow, Van Coke Cartel and A King all lined up for the first weekend along with DJ Naalderkoker, it's no surprise. For ticket sales contact Cornel at The Jolly Dolphin

Spike from www.wavescape.co.za will be bringing his famous Swell Course to the JBay Winterfest. The Swell Course - a multi-media presentation to depict how waves form, how swell moves through the sea, what happens when it arrives at the coast, and the best ways of improving your accuracy when deciding when to surf - will take place at Love Food Cafe on 16th July and includes dinner. It promises to be a fun evening. Tickets can be bought here www.wavescape.co.za/news/breaking-news/winter-swell-courses.html

In amongst all the excitement of the JBay Winterfest is the inaugural Oakley X-Over Challenge, a speciality invite-only multi-discipline event that will feature athletes and celebrities competing for the winner's trophy amongst golf, mountain biking and surfing disciplines, with Jordy Smith, Ryan Sandes and John Smit amongst the invitees. The event - #OakleyXover - will take place place on the 15-16th July at the Links Golf Course in St Francis, the JBay Open Mountain Bike Track and the Lower Point in Jeffreys Bay, with a closing function and prizegiving at The Jolly Dolphin on the eve of the 16th.

The JBay Winterfest organisers have opened up media accreditation for the event, and working members of the media are invited to register. The media accreditation applies to all events except for the JBay Open surfing event, and the VW Rally. More details can be found here www.jbaywinterfest.com/media-accreditation-request/
