The handover that took place on the 08th August 2014 saw Samsung, joined by the Local Traditional Council led by Ikosi MP, hand over the (SPIS) to Mahlenga Secondary School. This initiative serves to empower learners through a more interactive augmented educational experience.

Michelle Potgieter, Director of Corporate Marketing and Communications at Samsung Electronics SA: “We remain committed to upskilling young learners by developing innovative technology solutions that enable education in a far more collaborative and accessible manner. Partnering with the Local Traditional Council has provided us an opportunity to make a sustainable difference in the community of Sokhulumi and we look forward to working with them and reaping long term rewards.”

The Samsung SPIS offers a self-sustainable solar powered classroom that houses 24 learners fitted with 25 laptops and an interactive white board. The laptops are preloaded with the entire school syllabus and have wireless connectivity to allow instantaneous sharing of information and will give students a technology-rich education without having to travel far.

“Samsung understands the importance of education, more so, the power of technology to make a difference and Samsung therefore aims to create positive change for people everywhere, helping them to live a better life full of possibilities,” concludes Potgieter.
