The 2nd annual Lesotho Ultra Trail presented by The North Face™ and hosted by Maliba Lodge, set to take place on the 29th of November 2014, will open entries on the 2nd of April at midday (CET).

The 50km course through the towering Maluti Mountains in the Tsehlanyane National Park will once again play host to top athletes and aspiring skyrunners alike, as part of this years inaugural South African Skyrunner® Series which begins early April.

Purpose cut hiking trails, historical mountain passes and a network of animal and herder tracks await the participants, with altitudes expected to once again exceed the 3000m above sea level mark at the courses highest point. A slightly new entry format, and expanded entry list, means organisers will now be able accommodate up to 200 runners, including interest from top local and international athletes, as well as world media.

Runners who are successful in entering the event will now also have the opportunity to arrange their own accommodation through event hosts Maliba Lodge, offering participants the choice of different accommodation and meal packages to suit their travel arrangements and pre race routines.

Race Director Andrew Booth fron KZN Trail Running:
“LUT 2013 was a dream come true for me as a race organiser and to now have the opportunity to build on that in year two is very exciting. Creating the opportunity for both local and international runners to come and run in The Mountain Kingdom, in incredibly beautiful and natural spaces, is also something I really feel privileged in being a part of.“
