According to Pieter Du Plessis, New Balance IMPI Challenge Race Director, a number of new obstacles have been added to the course. “The course runs in the same direction as last year’s event however the obstacles will be placed in a different sequence. Participants can look forward to cool new obstacles, like the Colour Me Crazy Splash and the VWS Foam Pit, while the infamous Rawson’s Wall is now a double obstacle. There will also be lots of water related crossings. Lievland Wine Estate is the perfect venue for the New Balance IMPI Challenge. It’s absolutely beautiful and lends itself to spectator friendly obstacles. Some interesting facts to think about is that Lievland Wine Estate is situated in a unique valley originally called Natte Vallei, due to all the water. Wiesenhof is a nature reserve where wild animals can be seen, and also the first green cemetery in South Africa called Legacy Park. My advice to the New Balance IMPI Elite participants is to bring gloves. Remember no outside assistance will be allowed. If you can’t swim be sure to pack the water wings,” laughs Du Plessis.
