Garreth ‘Soldier Boy‘ McLellan, EFC Africa Middleweight Champion, celebrated the beginning of Movember by shaving off his famous beard today at Floyd’s Barber in Johannesburg.

This is no small show of support: McLellan typically only shaves after he has won a title fight, but shaving his face to mark the beginning of the month dedicated to raising awareness about prostate and testicular cancer and mental health shows just how seriously he takes the campaign.

Renowned for his merciless, precise fighting style in the Hexagon, McLellan is just as well known as a humble gentleman outside it – and his commitment to raising awareness about Movember is clear evidence of that.

“I appeal to my fans to head over to the Movember website (za.movember.com) to show their support for me by making a donation to this great initiative,” said a clean-shaven McLellan. “Even better – I challenge my fans to grow a mo and post pictures on my Facebook page, whether it’s a trucker, a wisp, a rock star or an abracadabra, and do their own bit for this great initiative.”
