Only when your batch is due to start, will we call you to come across – please do that QUICKLY as their are fast traffic on this section.

Prize giving: 11h30 at Toad in the Road
Distance: 14 km. Please note that the route for 2014 will be the clockwise route. This is a RUN – NOT A WALK. The exception being the steep sections. The run is challenging and you need to be fairly fit/having done other trail runs before os a similar nature. Not for beginners unless you are “trail running fit”. There are no water tables and you need to be self sufficient. It’s imperative that you take enough water with you, especially slower runners who will spend longer on the trail. DO NOT RUN IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL OR RECOVERED FROM ILLNESS RECENTLY!

Mountain Trail: Mostly single track but with enough space to pass a runner in front – along existing footpaths and hiking trails. The first 20 minutes are the toughest with a 500m height gain in about 1km. The terrain is rocky but mostly secure underfoot. This run is classified as challenging with 866m vertical altitude gain over 14km. The scenery is awesome and you will experience numerous views over different parts of the Peninsula. You will also traverse over St James’ and Muizenberg Peaks before heading down the same path you ascended at the start of the run. This descent is tough and especially toward the end of the run when your legs might be tired.

Race numbers and registration on the day
Runners will park and meet at the “Toad in the Road” – Main Road, Lakeside. There will be 9 sets of Indemnities – one for each batch start. Your name will be on the relevant batch. Next to your name will be your race number. You need to take one of the marker pens and get another runner to write your race number on your forearm or above your knee, in order for the time keeper to spot it easily when you finish your run.
