Route Description
A cloverleaf route format with each day’s starts & finish from the same venue in McGregor. The route offers challenge and reward for both Weekend Warriors as well as Racing Snakes. The route distance offers the perfect “warm up” after the winter season to get back into shape for summer.

70% of the daily route is on open gravel roads or jeep tracks, with a good combination of flat, rolling hills and one or two steeper climbs. 30% of the daily route is single track, cattle paths or naturally eroded tracks. The terrain is mostly hard rock formation and few loose gravel sections. (No crazy stuff, just Mother Nature providing us with some fun tracks and trails!)

The short route (40km per day) will follow the same route as the long route (60/65 km per day) with just an earlier turn off to race village.

Remember although the race is aimed to include all types of riders – this is mountain biking and there will always be one or two obstacles, which we cannot remove out of nature and might cause you to get off your bike for a few meters. But this is all part of the experience, exploring the mountains and valleys with you bike where you don’t get to go every day.

2014 Route and Route Profiles will be launched end of July.

Why is the race called the “Ride2Nowhere”?
Apart from the unique, alternative, eccentric and therapeutic village; McGregor is known for the “Road to Nowhere”–due to the fact that the road leading out of McGregor towards the mountains literally leads to nowhere and into a dead end. One would need to exit the town with the same road you entered. Bearing this in mind, it makes perfect sense to call the event the “Ride2Nowhere”.
