What makes a good event become a great event is something that doesn’t happen overnight. History is something that can’t be bought or created in the short-term, and it’s this ‘history’ that moves an occasion out of the ordinary category into a highly anticipated event that everyone wants to be a part of.

The Galencia Property South African Derby is the toughest challenge and thus the most sought after title on the equestrian calendar. The 18 obstacle, 1200m course is only ever won by the horse and rider combination that is the fittest, most in form and most calm on the day. Attended by over 5000 people, this event sees the Who’s Who of the fashion and riding worlds gather for a day of welcoming hospitality, family fun and equine excellence.

Adding to the history, comes the glitz and the glamour says CEO of Galencia Property Developments, Mr Cheng Cheng, “Equestrian sport has evolved to be more than just a noble event, but rather a symbol of aristocratic demeanor that is represented by ideals of fair competition. It has become the epitome of fashionable sport and an emblem of a high-end brand logo. Attributable to our efforts and experiences, Galencia Property always strives to globally develop the best value property with the team spirit of optimism, diligence and professionalism to deliver an elegant and dependable product. We as the official sponsor of the Galencia Property South African Derby, share the same values that are symbolized by this gallant sport, and hope to encourage a wider range of people to embrace it and subsequently uphold the noble sportsmanship.”

Andrew Dawson, Chairman of Kyalami Equestrian Park adds to Mr Cheng, “In a continued effort to improve this event year on year we have created several hospitality and ticketing options including member hospitality, corporate hospitality, pavilion hospitality, general seating as well as a 3 tiered VIP marquee. Every arena at Kyalami Equestrian Park will be filled to the brim with equestrian excellence from 30 September to 5 October including dressage, complete horse and the all-important FEI Silver Tour World Challenge in the Peter Minnie arena. Tickets are available at Computicket and with this year’s theme of “Blue and White” you’ll want to be joining us come 2pm on 5 October 2014.”

And so as the 2014 Galencia Property South African Derby celebrates it’s 49th birthday, you’ll find that the event continues to attract bigger crowds, tougher competition and creates an experience leaving the horse lover wanting more. With the best horse and rider combinations on offer on the African continent, you will want to witness it live and be a part of history.
