Words: Gaspésie International Raid

Since last November, the Gaspésie region and those who took part in the 2014 edition of the Gaspésie International Raid have been seen all over the planet due to a 48-minute documentary about the event that was broadcasted on every continent. With approximately 900 hours of broadcasting in more than 40 countries, from FOX in the United States to SKY in Europe along with others as TV Nationale Uruguay in South America, TV5 and RDS, the documentary introduced the entire world the Gaspésie region, the magnificent playground that hosted the first edition of this exceptional event.

“Here, in Brazil, the documentary has aired several times and the Gaspésie International Raid has had many repercussions because of this. The event was an incredible experience. We are happy to relive it!” -Jose Elias, member of Team Brou Aventuras at the 2014 Gaspésie International Raid.

“I hope that your exceptional natural playground will see many other editions of this event. It was our best race of the year!” -Baptiste Lucas, member of Team Trails Endurance Mag at the 2014 Gaspésie International Raid.

For the 2015 edition, in terms of challenges, Endurance Aventure will maintain the same formula. International teams will therefore once again have 4 days to complete a 300 km course (a 150 km course will also be offered) that will give them the opportunity to celebrate the region’s beauty while mountain biking, canoeing, trekking, climbing and coasteering through dense forests, salmon-filled rivers ranked among the best in the world, and breathtaking views of the ocean.

Once again, there will be male, female, and mixed teams of two or four participants. Another factor that is sure to remain ever-present is the warm hospitality of the region’s inhabitants.

A unique feature in this kind of international event: a Youth Raid will be held as part of the International Raid to which we expect more than 200 participants aged from 11 to 18 years old. The popularity of this event during the 2014 edition shows the great interest of the youth for the organisation or the participation in this kind of adventure.

Numbers:
- 11 countries represented in the race (Canada, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Denmark, United States, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Switzerland and Uruguay)
- 2 ways to compete: 150km or 300km
- 44 registered teams and 13 Gaspesian teams
- 120 athletes
- More than 120 volunteers
- 150 kids participating on the Prologue tomorrow
- 150 landlords gave permission for the race to pass by their lands

Statements from the press conference:
“We did get lost and stuck while preparing this race and event for you. We expect you also get ‘lost’, because that’s the best way to know the area and to tell a story about the race” - Daniel Poirier, Co-President of Endurance Adventure

“We didn’t want to just create a course to make the competitors suffer, but also to show them the beauty of the region and have a pleasant experience” - Daniel Poirier, Co-President of Endurance Adventure

The Gaspésie International Raid takes place from September 10th to September 13th, 2015.
