Spoil Mom with a special pre-screening of The Age of Adaline

Words: Simóne Jacobs

Mother's Day (Sunday 10 May) is a day to spoil that special woman in your life – and to show her how much you appreciate everything she does for you. The best way to do this, of course, is to give her the day off to do some spoiling of her own! What better way than relaxing in a luxurious red leather recliner chair for a few hours, and watching a romantic drama come to life on the big screen?

Ster-Kinekor has the perfect Mother’s Day treat for your mom. On Sunday, 10 May, a special pre-screening of the romantic drama, The Age of Adaline takes place for one show only – 17:00 – in the comfort of the luxurious Cine Prestige cinemas in Rosebank, Sandton and Cradlestone Mall in Johannesburg, The Grove in Pretoria, Gateway in Durban and Cavendish in Cape Town.

As an extra spoil for moms on Mother’s Day, Ster-Kinekor has a special surprise for everyone who pre-books their tickets for the special screenings of The Age of Adaline on Sunday. Each of them will receive a specially packaged ‘Goodibox’ filled with a range of treats and products to sample and enjoy when they get home after the movie experience. These include: Roberto Cavalli Paradiso; Peppadew; Dermalogica; The Body Shop; Nescafe Dolce Gusto; Sea Harvest; Femagene and Himalaya Herbal Healthcare.

Ster-Kinekor has entered into a partnership with Goodibox to provide exclusive gifts to its special customers at some of the cinema chain’s exclusive events. The Goodibox is a beautiful, hand-made and individually packaged gift box that will be presented to all the wonderful women who come to the special Mothers’ Day screening on Sunday, 10 May at 17:00.

Before the film starts, remember to stock up on some of the delicious treats on display in the exclusive Cine Prestige VIP Lounge area. Enjoy coffee and a slice of cake, a tasty snack platter or the ‘movie must-have’ of a cold drink and popcorn. Remember that you can order your snacks and the attentive Cine Prestige staff will bring them to you in the cinema, as you lie back in pure comfort in your recliner leather chair!

In The Age of Adaline, a young woman, born at the turn of the 20th century, is rendered ageless after an accident. After many solitary years, she meets a man who complicates the eternal life she has settled into.

Adaline Bowman (Blake Lively) has miraculously remained a youthful 29 years of age for nearly eight decades, never allowing herself to get close to anyone lest they discover her secret. However, a chance encounter with a charismatic philanthropist named Ellis Jones (Michiel Huisman) reawakens Adaline's long-suppressed passion for life and romance. When a weekend with Ellis' parents threatens to expose the truth, Adaline makes a decision that changes her life forever.

Directed by Lee Toland Krieger, The Age of Adaline also stars Harrison Ford, Ellen Burstyn, Kathy Baker and Amanda Crew. Releasing nationally at Ster-Kinekor cinemas on Friday 29 May, the film’s running time is 112mins and the classification is 7PG.
