Lifesaving SA comes to the rescue

It's summer time and with the festive season upon us, water safety is of extreme importance, especially when you consider that approximately 70% of our population is not proficient in swimming. Sadly, drownings account for the second highest cause of accidental death amongst children under the age of 15, and for every child that dies from drowning, five are left with permanent brain damage as a result of the prolonged lack of oxygen. It takes only four minutes without oxygen for irreversible brain damage to occur.
