Date set for 2013 WILD EXPO

The WILD EXPO, one of South Africa’s biggest hunting, game-ranching, angling and outdoor expos, will be held from 9 to 11 August 2013 at the Tshwane Events Centre (Pretoria Show Grounds) in Pretoria. The new date will mean that the WILD EXPO will now coincide with a new game and hunting television programme being produced by GAME & HUNT, who is also the organiser of the WILD EXPO. This television programme will be broadcast on television from 11 July 2013 and will serve as an excellent appetizer for the WILD EXPO.

During the 13 weeks that the programme will be on air, it will focus on a number of hunting and game-ranching topics, including successful game ranchers, calibres and stalking techniques. “We are very excited about this series,” says Hennie van der Walt, producer and organiser of the WILD EXPO. “There is really a need for a television programme that will serve the hunting and game-ranching industries, and which will show the public what ‘conservation in practice’ is all about. We filmed excellent footage. For us, the link between the television programme and the expo is a perfect match, and we look forward to an excellent expo this year,” says Van der Walt.

The WILD EXPO, which has been held successfully since 2001, will therefore be supported by the television programme this year, and expo visitors will have the opportunity to meet the television personalities and interact directly with the organisations featured in the programme.

Through the years, the WILD EXPO has built a reputation as an excellent expo, with an elaborate programme and a selection of exhibitors that cater for the wide interests of the outdoor enthusiast. The event showcases products and services of more than 150 exhibitors to more than 15 000 visitors, and offers one of the most complete selections of hunting, game-ranching, angling and outdoor equipment and accessories (including guns and ammunition). These shows and demonstrations include air-rifle and bow-shooting competitions, hunting bows, knives, hunting outfits, fishing equipment, camping gear and off-road vehicles. Highlights on the programme include hunting-hound shows, a 4 x 4 track and an angling pond, where anglers can test their skills.

Van der Walt says the event is moving back to its original home this year and will be held at the Tshwane Events Centre (Pretoria Show Grounds), as this venue offers enough parking bays, a tailor-made angling pond and lots of space for growth. “The WILD EXPO is a great marketing opportunity, which offers exhibitors a platform to meet their clients face-to-face, to promote their brand and to grow their sales. We are marketing the expo to hunters, anglers and game ranchers, as well as to nature and outdoor enthusiasts and animal lovers, conservationists and 4x4 enthusiasts – our visitors are serious about nature.”

The WILD EXPO is being organised by GAME & HUNT magazine, in cooperation with SA Bass, The Bank Angler, The Bass Angler and Africa’s Bowhunter.
