This winter, the Africa Marine and Leisure Expo will ensure that Scottburgh Beach and other venues in the Umdoni area, will be alive with action on August 3 and 4. Entrance to the Expo will be completely free. The event was born from a desire to link marine conservation concerns with a healthy ocean-based tourism industry. In addition to the surfing event, highlights of the festival include the Tag & Release Fishing competitions, a leisure exhibition showcasing all kinds of products related to the ocean, a bodyboarding contest and a bikini fashion show. For the children, there will be a Marine Mania entertainment programme and festival running for the entire course of the Expo. All weekend, live bands and DJs will ensure that everyone is in the party mood, making the Expo a truly entertaining and enjoyable experience for all. The conservation aspect of the event will be further highlighted by the guest speakers who will be present throughout the weekend, and who will explore the issues facing the KZN coastline in more depth. These speakers include well known scientists, conservationists, divers and underwater photographers to name just a few.
