Gauteng’s current weather conditions will add to the excitement of the IMPI Challenge at Van Gaalens Cheese Farm (Hartebeespoort / North West Province) this coming weekend (Saturday, 15 March 2014 and Sunday, 16 March 2014).

“The route is currently very, very muddy. I’d suggest that participants maybe come dressed as fish,” laughs Pieter Du Plessis, IMPI Challenge Race Director. “Participants are in for a treat as just running the route at this stage can be considered an obstacle. Mental toughness and determination will be key factors in completing the course. We are very excited to introduce three fun new obstacles, a container crossing, the Tarzan Ropes and the Endless Tunnel”.

“For those participants that do not yet feel ready for the full distance of the IMPI Challenge, we’ve introduced the IMPI Dash,” continues Du Plessis. “6km in length, the IMPI Dash will feature all the super-fun obstacles of the IMPI Challenge. Children can also join in on the action with the introduction of the IMPI Mini. This event is ideal for our IMPI Warriors in the making”.

Event information

Combining trail running with an adventure style obstacle course, there are five structures to choose from when entering the IMPI Challenge:
· Traditional IMPI Challenge: Conquer 18 obstacles over 10 – 12km
· IMPI Dash – Compacted Challenge: Families have the chance to compete together. The course will be 5 - 7km with 12 obstacles (ages 10 – 15 years, all adults welcome).
· IMPI Elite: The course will be 15 – 20km with 25 tough obstacles.
· IMPI Corporate – Trample your boss: There is no better team building exercise than this! Conquer 18 obstacles over 10 – 12km.
· IMPI Mini: This mini course will be around 1km and feature smaller versions of some of our favourite obstacles (ages 6 – 10 years, all adults welcome).

The race categories cater for a variety of athletes, from elite sportspersons, competent and beginner runners and families looking for a fun experience. Participants can enter individually or as part of a team (teams vary in size from 2 – 10 people, although team members start together, they do not need to finish together).
