Doryce Sher

FOUNDER OF AROMATIC APOTHECARY
Registered Pharmacist | Reflexologist  |  Aromatherapist

Doryce Sher, founder of Aromatic Apothecary, is one of South Africa’s leading advocates on the regulation of complementary medicine, with a particular interest in Aromatherapy. It is her passionate aim to ensure people are aware that there are choices when it comes to health and well-being.

Whilst she worked in retail pharmacy, Doryce became disillusioned about dispensing shopping lists of drugs, as a result of her deep belief that medicines originally came from plants. While there have been incredible medical advances, nature still has rich resources of active ingredients. Doryce found herself at a point where she could not dispense another pill and decided to dedicate her life to creating quality, therapeutic products using natures’ essential oils. And so Aromatic Apothecary was born.

In 1996, Doryce was elected by AOASA (The Association of Aromatherapists in South Africa) to represent Aromatherapists regarding regulations of Aromatherapy oils and products and subsequently became a member of the Aromatherapy Technical subcommittee. In 2002 Doryce was nominated and elected to the Association of Reflexology and Massage Professional Board of AHPCSA (Allied Health Professional Council of South Africa). With Doryce’s medical background as a pharmacist, being a Registered Pharmacist with the Pharmacy Council is extremely beneficial in the process of setting up regulations governing aromatherapy in particular. Doryce currently serves on the Complementary Committee of the Medicines Control Council.

Aromatic Apothecary is a proudly South African company that is one of the country’s most respected authorities on Aromatherapy as an alternative form of medication. Since its humble beginnings in 1993, when Doryce traded at informal craft markets, she has grown the business into a national enterprise, whilst becoming a leading brand in the wellness industry, supplying many of South Africa’s high-end health shops and pharmacies. Doryce empowers people with the correct information about aromatherapy and addresses the overuse and abuse of modern medicine.
