The Ballito Street Heroes event, in conjunction with SMD Ballito Auto and the iLembe Chamber of Commerce, will be burning up the streets of the KwaDukuza seaside holiday town with some high octane action on 14 and 15 September.

The 1.5km time trial race track, approved by Motorsport South Africa, will feature supercars such as Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Audis and Maseratis, muscle car favourites like the AC Cobra, Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang, sports cars, and customised street cars, all competing against the clock. The event’s debut at the Laguna Seca precinct will satisfy the appetite of any petrol head.

The BMW club of South Africa will make their presence felt with 10 of their top cars on display at the event, along with a variety of desirable cars sourced through the KwaZulu-Natal motor clubs.

“Ballito Auto has benefitted from its involvement in the Ballito area for many years,” Vaughan Williams from SMD Ballito Auto, sponsors of the Ballito Street Heroes Event, said. “We felt it necessary to put back into the community.

“Those who come down can expect lots of Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and Porsches – aspirational cars for an aspirational event that will kick off something exciting in the province.

“I see this event being hugely successful, and we encourage motorsport fans and car lovers to join in the excitement at the festival.”

The festival will also see an off roaders’ area, a car sound off competition, classic and vintage car displays, a Formula One car display, a show and shine competition, a dyno test competition, a general exhibition area for the public, and other exciting features.

All the while, the race track will be under attack by the fastest and flashiest supercars and muscle cars as drivers look to earn the fastest time on the day.

Trenley Tilbrook, CEO of the iLembe Chamber of Commerce, added: “Events based tourism, like the Ballito Street Heroes festival, drives and grows the local economy, and positions it well to attract tourism.

“The economic benefits, in turn, are good for the local community. It will also give Ballito an increase in tourism and because of our location, we are positioned to service the huge motorsport following on the North Coast. Ballito Street Heroes is going to be great experience.”
