The RVCA South Africa Tour - arguably the biggest skate tour to hit South Africa – has begun. The international crew, comprising Greyson Fletcher, Julian Davidson, Kevin ‘Spanky’ Long, Josh Harmony and Aidan Campbell, all arrived safely from the USA last night, and are already diving deep into the Jozi skate scene. Local RVCA team riders Yann Horowitz, Khulu Dlamini and Adrian Day, who are set to show them around, have joined them and the tour is go!

First official skate jam will take place tomorrow Saturday 22 August at the community indoor skate park at Maboneng, on 11 Staib Street. The Jam will start at 1pm, and will be followed by a signing, and a couple of local rock bands will be performing after that.

The American pros will be skateboarding with the local community, underprivileged groups and any other kids who would like to join them at the new community Maboneng Skate Park. The Maboneng event host and One Love Skate Expo founder Braveman ‘Quincy’ Moyo is amping for the event tomorrow, along with the local crew. “The kids are incredibly excited to be able to skate with the American pro skaters and have been amping all week,’ said Quincy. “They have all been training hard and skating all week to be ready for our American visitors. The response has been quite overwhelming actually. It’s really cool that we’re going to host them. We run the One Love Skate Expo ourselves and don’t really have any funding, it’s just a couple of guys who are friends, and it’s going to be a very exciting day for the kids tomorrow." There will be free pizza and loads of product giveaways, so everyone should get down there to join the fun.

The Durban leg will follow the Joburg leg of the RVCA South Africa Tour. In Durban the RVCA crew will be skating the beachfront skate park and then skating the Valley of 1000 Hills. The RVCA South Africa Tour will end with the Cape Town leg. Details to follow.

The RVCA South Africa Tour is supported by Primi Piatti, Monster Energy and the Maboneng Precinct.
